Ruter AS is the public transport authority for Oslo and Akershus counties in Norway.
Ticket Information
The tickets are based on zones and time. You pay for how many zones you travel through, and how long the ticket is valid for. The Ruter app will calculate all this for you.
Busses, tram, ferries and metros.
All red and green busses, tram, metros and ferries with the Ruter logo is valid with your Ruter ticket
Vy Trains
Your Ruter Ticket is valid on Vy Trains where the route number start with R, RE and L, and are within the zones you have paid for.
SJ Nord, Go-Ahead and Flytoget
Your Ruter ticket is not valid on these train operators. Check the Entur app for more information on how to get tickets on these operators.
Extension Tickets
If you have a digital ticket, it is possible to buy extensions to other zones for a discount if necessary. In some cases it can be cheaper to get the period ticket first, for instance if you are traveling to Oslo for the week and flew into Oslo Airport Gardermoen. Then get the Zone 1 one week pass first, then buy an extension ticket to zone 4N which is valid on all Vy trains traveling though Oslo S.

How to Ride the System
Red Busses
Give a signal that you want to ride the bus, and enter at any door. Press the stop button when you want to go off.
Green Busses
Give a signal that you want to ride the bus, and enter at the front door to show your ticket. Press the stop button when you want to go off.
Trams
Enter at any door. and exit when the tram has stopped at your destination.
Metro / T-bane
Enter at any door. and exit when the metro has stopped at your destination. Remember that you need a valid ticket to be at the station. Ticket controls can happen at the stations, and not only onboard. Those zones are marked.
Ferries
Enter the ferry, and have you ticket handy if there is an inspection. Exit when the ferry has reached your destination.
Vy Trains.
If you have a ticket you can enter wagons that are marked ubetjent or betjent. If you dont have a ticket, enter wagons marked as Betjent because you can buy tickets in these wagons.

Flytoget
Airport Express Train to and from Oslo Airport Gardermoen. They are not a part of the Ruter system, and you need to purchase tickets directly from them if you want to travel with them. Vy also operates trains to Oslo Airport Gardermoen, which is included in your Ruter ticket as long as you have paid for all the zones the train passes through.
