1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using TransitHow ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept the terms, you must discontinue use immediately. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization.

2. The Service

TransitHow is a community-curated directory of public transportation systems and related resources. We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Because information changes frequently, we do not guarantee that listings or tips are complete, accurate, or available at all times.

3. User contributions

When you submit content—including descriptions, images, links, or comments—you grant TransitHow a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, modify, create derivative works, publicly display, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. You confirm that:

  • You own or have permission to share the content.
  • The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • The content does not violate any laws or rights of others.

We reserve the right to edit, hide, or remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

4. Accounts & security

Some features require an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any activity taking place under your credentials. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access so we can help secure your account.

5. Advertising & monetization

TransitHow displays ads provided by Google AdSense and may include other sponsorships or affiliate links. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the use of ad cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies that allow Google and its partners to deliver, personalize, and measure ads. You agree not to interfere with ad delivery or take actions that would cause TransitHow to violate Google AdSense Program Policies or applicable advertising laws.

Interacting with ads or sponsored content is optional. Advertisers are responsible for their own claims and offerings, and we are not a party to any transaction you enter into with them.

6. Prohibited conduct

  • Submitting unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or intentionally misleading information.
  • Scraping or bulk exporting site content without written permission.
  • Uploading malicious code, attempting to gain unauthorized access, or disrupting our infrastructure.
  • Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your affiliation.

7. Intellectual property

TransitHow, including its trademarks, logos, design, and original content (excluding user submissions), is owned by TransitHow and protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without prior written consent.

8. Disclaimers

The Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, about accuracy, reliability, or availability. Use of third-party links, APIs, or advertising networks is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TransitHow, its team, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, advertising, or third-party offerings.

10. Changes & termination

We may update these Terms to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. Updates take effect once posted with a revised "Last updated" date. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.

11. Governing law & contact

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your country of residence unless local rules require otherwise. Questions? Contact us at [email protected].
