Ticket Information

Single tickets and short-term passes for Prague

There are 30 minute, 90 minute, 24 hour and 72 hour tickets. They are sold by ticket offices at selected metro station, most tobacconists and newsagents in the city, it ticket machines, as well as through the "PID Lítačka" app.

Starting in January 2026, there will be a surcharge for all paper ticket selling channels, so the app is the recommended way to buy the tickets. Each short-term ticket needs to be validated/activated (unless bought via ticket machines on board of the vehicles), and is valid for travel via all modes of transport throughout the entire city of Prague within its validity period.

Long-Term Passes

There are long-term passes, with monthly and yearly variants. The yearly pass for 3650 CZK is especially good value, but even the 550 CZK monthly pass can be a good value for tourists.
The easiest way for a tourist to purchase the pass is to use the "PID Lítačka" mobile app. Once installed, you need to create an account and upload a passport photo to be able to use the app as an identifier for the passes.

Affordable Mobile Data So Transit Apps Work Abroad

Mobile ticketing and real-time disruption alerts require cellular data. International roaming on your home carrier can be costly, so use these trusted travel eSIM partners to stay connected without surprise fees.

How to Ride the System

There are no ticket gates, fare enforcement instead relies solely on ticket inspectors conducting random checks. If using a short-term ticket, be sure to validate it: Paper tickets are validated by inserting them in a stamping machine, electronic by activating them in the app.

Beware that the electronic tickets have a 1-minute period after tapping "Activate" before they actually become valid. The reason for that is to prevent people from travelling with an unactivated ticket on their phone and activating it when they see inspectors. On the metro, the ticket needs to already be active when entering the paid area of the station.

Unwritten Rules & Etiquette

Since about 30% of trams in regular service are still old high-floor types with steps and many metro stations lack lifts, it's considered good manners to offer help carrying the pram over stairs to any mothers with small children.
